ONLINE EXHIBITION
Women of The Garden (2)
In creating this space for others, Elsa works from her own truth. For The Garden she worked very intentionally in soft sculpture – crochet, sewing, quilting, beading, embroidery – skills passed down through generations of women. Pansy Robinson (Elsa’s mother), Elsa’s elementary school teachers, and the late Ms. Coverley (a family friend) taught her to sew. Their hands represent the generations of women who have created beauty, comfort and connection for their loved ones, families and communities.
