Clay Ornament Workshop

Create a variety of clay ornaments in this two-night beginner pop-up class! On the first evening our instructor will demonstrate how to roll out a slab of clay and create flat ornaments using various cut-out templates and texture rollers. You will also learn how to decorate your work with underglazes and underglaze transfers. On the second evening you can choose from a wide variety of colours and glaze your ornaments to give them a shiny, durable finish.
You can expect to make 10–15 ornaments each. You are welcome to bring your own cookie cutters (max 4 inches) if you have a unique ornament shape in mind.
Clay ornaments will be available for pickup at Art Gallery of St Albert two weeks after class. You will be notified by email when ornaments are ready for pickup.

Can I purchase a membership, a gift shop item, and/or a class at the same time to receive the discount?
No, you must purchase your membership first (separately from other purchases).
You must activate your account on our Membership Portal before applying your
10% discount.
How does becoming a member help the Arts and Heritage Foundation?
An annual membership with Arts and Heritage directly supports events, exhibitions
and programs at the Art Gallery of St. Albert, Musée Héritage Museum and Heritage
Sites.
What is the difference between an individual membership and a family membership?
An individual membership and a family membership share the same benefits. The
differences are the prices and how many people can use the membership. The
individual membership costs $20 per year and can only be used by one person. The
family membership costs $30 per year and can have multiple users on the account
(includes two adults and children under 18. Only one vote per family membership).
How do I apply my 10% discount to online orders?
You must be logged in to your Member Portal before applying your 10% discount. The best way to do this is to log in to your Member Portal before adding items to your cart.
How often do I have to renew my membership?
Our memberships last one year, and we require an annual renewal. Your
membership will expire after one year of the date of purchase.
How do I renew my membership?
You can renew your membership by purchasing a new membership (don't worry,
you will not have to make a new account!). If you purchased your membership
online, you could set up your account for auto-renewal.
To withdraw from or change your program registration, we require a minimum of 7 days notice before the program start date. You may transfer into one of our other art or history programs or receive a refund, less a 3% administration fee.
As a non-profit organization, our goal is to keep our class prices accessible to everyone in our community. The 3% administration fee for cancellations helps us cover the costs associated with processing registrations and cancellations.
If you cancel with less than 7 days notice, you will forfeit your registration fee.
Thank you for your interest in our programs. If a program is full, you may join the waitlist. When a spot becomes available, an automatic notification will be sent to the waitlist. Please note that being on the waitlist does not guarantee a spot, as spots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bring an apron to class and dress for a mess!
Students require a basic pottery tool kit to for all wheel throwing classes. You can purchase one for the class on our website artsandheritage.ca and collect it on the first instruction day by showing your purchase receipt. Tools are not required for our hand building class.
Please note our pottery classes are quite active. Be prepared to move around our studio spaces, lift heavy clay and participate in cleaning tasks at the end of class.
