Guilded – Opposites Attract – Call for Submissions 2026
Art Gallery of St. Albert is seeking SAPVAC Guild members, working in their guild medium, to take part in the exhibition Guilded–Opposites Attract. This juried exhibit will take place from November 26, 2026, to January 30, 2027.
Art making, the physical act of bringing a work into being, is a process of balance. Art fundamentals are positioned in opposition to one another, sliding scales of light to darkness, hard to soft, opacity to transparency, fine to coarse, warm to cold, abstraction to realism. Artists are asked to wade the unending possibilities, bringing the scales to harmony, or choosing to upend them.
All five Guilds; Floral Art, Painter’s, Paper Arts, Potters and Quilters’ are welcome to take part, exhibiting works inspired by the theme “Opposites Attract.” Artists interpret the theme individually, informed by their own experience, interests and their unique artistic practice. From the literal to the metaphorical, there are many potential avenues of exploration and expression.
Artists are encouraged to submit up to 5 individual pieces. In addition, groups within each guild are also encouraged to create and submit a collaborative piece related to the theme.
To express your interest in participating please read through the application form and requirements below. If you have questions, please get in touch exhibitions@artsandheritage.ca
Deadline for entries is Wednesday, September 16, 2026
