Born in Sarnia, Ontario, Barbara Shore began painting in 1970 when she started taking art courses at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension. In 2004 she completed her Fine Arts Certificate and has continued to explore figurative, landscape and abstract painting. She describes her art as inspired by the interdependent relationship of nature and humanity. “Whether the subject is the inspiring beauty of nature, a social issue or a past memory, it has to speak to me. Using my own voice, I find inspiration to recreate a subject based on my emotional connection.”
