How the strength of women laid the foundation for a city

 

 

Life for women who built and sustained our regional communities was complex and challenging. Women stepped up when times were tough, running families, businesses and supporting the community. The difficulties and hardships they faced were met with strength, determination and compassion.

What jobs did women take on, outside of the home and off the farm? How did they support each other to get through the challenges of raising families? What organizations did they establish to create community? How did they respond in times of crisis?

Through artifacts and photographs from our collections A Woman’s Place, introduces you to the lives of St. Albert's remarkable community builders.

This fascinating exhibition reminds us of the debt we owe them for the lives we live now.
